Houghton was founded in 1836 by a syndicate of three British Army Officers and named after the most senior of the three — Lieutenant Colonel Richmond Houghton. Today, Houghton is one of Australia’s finest, oldest and most awarded wineries. The Houghton Reserve range, a fine selection from our premium reserve wines, epitomises Western Australia’s signature varietals.
Bright crimson with purple hues. The bouquet displays lifted red berry fruits, raspberry, plum and black cherry flavours with a subtle overlay of black pepper, exotic spice and mocha notes.
Medium bodied, the juicy upfront palate displays flavours of plum, ripe red berries, star-anise and exotic spices. Subtle oak flavours integrate with the fruit on a softy textured palate balanced with fine tannins and soft acidity.
A wine to be enjoyed upon release, with the potential to cellar for up to 10 years for greater complexity.
