Beautiful garnet colour. Light but textural tannin, juicy, red fruit, grilled tomato with freshly coarse-ground black pepper, an easygoing barbecue wine from an Italian grape that doesn’t feel the need to get too macho about it.
Calls for grilled portobello, soft brown multigrain rolls, the early afternoon on a pleasantly warm weekend.
About the Winery
Named for five sisters of the Byrne family and the five scoundrels they married, this recently-established Clare Valley winery runs a no-nonsense operation with a focus on Italian varietals and small batch wines made with love.
All winemaking is overseen by black-and-white winery bulldog Banjo.
