Nonna Gisella Sangiovese has found its feet.

Bright, light, perfumed and inviting. Just enough firmness too. This is a lovely sangiovese to drink. Pretty with cherries and assorted berries, alive with spice, herbal in a floral way and satisfying through the finish. Bistro wine par excellence. Any table, any time.

Winemakers Comments

Named after Alfred's grandmother, this is a medium bodied wine - warm and humble just like its namesake. Aromas of lightly spiced plums and cherries lead to hints of chocolate, leather and lovely savoury characters. This easy drinking Sangiovese is generous and full flavoured with soft tannins.

The winemaking involves a selection of techniques from cold maceration to maintain the fruit weight and freshness, and hot fermentation to add that typical Pizzini style to the wine. This wine is aged in a mixture of large format oak barrels and barriques with some batches aged in stainless steel tanks to maintain vibrancy and freshness.

About the Winery

Winemaking duo Fred and Katrina Pizzini, formerly well-respected grapegrowers for a variety of labels, have more recently brought their name and their sizeable vineyards to the Pizzini brand. Pizzini's wines are made with a focus on varietal character, with Italian varieties and styles being a particular focus.
